'How I Met Your Mother' 200th Episode Recap: The Mother's Past Reveals Devastating Loss And Close Encounters With Ted Mosby (WATCH)

The 200th episode of "How I Met Your Mother" showed us everything we've been asking for since the beginning of the season: what has The Mother been up to?

[Warning: major spoilers ahead]

We still don't know The Mother's name, but we do finally find out what happened to her during the nine years before Ted Mosby officially meets her. The Mother's past revealed she endured heartbreak after she losing what she believes is the love of her life, Max. How Max died was never made known during the episode, but it could be brought up later in the series.

After The Mother mourned the death of Max, she tries her best to move on with the help of her friends, who also hangs out at a pub called Maclaren's. The Mother eventually meets her roommate Cindy (Rachel Bilson), which is the first time Mosby gets a real glimpse of her. However, as Mosby previously stated in past episodes, The Mother first saw Mosby while she was taking a class at Columbia University.

Anyway, The Mother uses music to help her cope with the loss of Max, eventually starting a band and meeting Louis, the man she moves on with. When The Mother first went out for a drink with Louis, she explains to him that she doesn't date because she knows the love of her life already came through.

However, The Mother's friends convince her to give Louis a chance. Louis helps The Mother get back into the dating world, but she knows she doesn't love him the way she loved Max.

The show ends with Louis proposing to The Mother, which she rejects and heads over to the Farhampton Inn to get a room. The Mother takes out her ukulele and begins singing "La Vie En Rose" on the balcony of her room, which is located right next to Mosby's.

Mosby ends the episode revealing it was the first time he heard The Mother sing and it was his favorite rendition of all. You can watch the 200th episode of "How I Met Your Mother" here.
