Three Florida police officers were suspended this week, after they escorted Justin Bieber from the airport without gaining proper clearance first.
Assistant City Manager of Opa-Locka, Fla. David Chiverton announced on Friday that an investigation had been opened concerning the officers' actions. Higher-ups haven't yet decided whether the two law enforcement officials' will receive payment during their suspension.
Although the two officers weren't breaking rules by accompanying Bieber out of the south Florida city's airport, Chiverton told the Associated Press that there is a particular protocol law enforcement must follow in these kinds of situations.
Not much about the case has been publicized, but it seems one of the police officers who walked with Bieber on Monday wasn't authorized to do so.
Chiverton said that investigators looking into the case are still wrangling information concerning where the police took Bieber, and how, if at all, the airport was involved.
Bieber was arrested for DUI this week, after driving with an expired license and resisting arrest, according to AP.
He reportedly was pulled over after racing through a residential area in Miami on Thursday. Police said Bieber smelled like alcohol at the time.
The 19-year-old singer was free on bail, Friday.
