PlayStation Network Will Be Down For Maintenance For Six Hours Mon. Jan 27, How You Can Still Play Games

Sony has made an announcement that might make many of its PlayStation gamers upset. The company will be taking down the PlayStation Network for six hours on Monday Jan. 27 in order to perform some mandatory maintenance.

According to IGN, in Europe the maintenance will take place between 5:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. GT. In North America, the PlayStation Network will be down between 9:30 a.m. PT/12:00 p.m. ET and will return at 3:30 p.m. PT/6:30 ET. Unfortunately this might cut into some people's playtime who enjoy unwinding after a hard day's work with one of their favorite PlayStation 3 or PlayStaion 4 games. However, those who try to log on Monday should be aware that neither their console nor their account subscription are defective.

In fact, if you log on this weekend, you'll still be able to access your games and some other features during the maintenance period. What this means in practical terms is that if you've logged onto the PlayStation Network or signed into your account through the PlayStation Network any time since Jan. 20, you'll be able to play games online and access apps like Netflix without issues. However, the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home and Account Management menus will not be available through your console during this maintenance period.

"We thank you for your patience and support and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. In order to access online game play and partner apps during this routine maintenance, we ask that you please sign in to PlayStation Network prior to Monday, January 27th," the company wrote in a post on its community forum to announced the news.
