Musician Mary J. Blige's father was critically stabbed on Thursday, following a heated argument with his former girlfriend that turned violent.
According to Michigan police, 63-year-old Thomas Blige was in his home on Thursday morning when the argument occurred, ABC News reported.
Thomas Blige sustained wounds to the neck, according to police who spoke with the Battle Creek Enquirer. The father of the Grammy-award winning singer was immediately transferred to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, where he was treated for his injuries.
Medical officials didn't give word on his condition, ABC News reported.
According to Detective Sgt. Jim Martens, officers who investigated at the scene of the crime found a knife presumably used in the fight.
Thomas Blige's ex-lover was reportedly covered with blood all over her clothing. She's currently being held in the Calhoun County Jail, and is scheduled for an arraignment on Friday.
Mary J. Blige hasn't released an official statement on the event just yet.
The musician is currently up for a Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration with artist Kendrick Lamar.
