The Vampire Diaries Season 5 Spoilers: Nina Dobrev Talks Damon, Elena and Stefan's Romantic Needs; 100th Episode Remembers Katherine's Evil Deeds

It's finally time. "The Vampire Diaries" will reach its 100th episode tonight at 8/7c on The CW.

One of the major storylines - if not the major storyline - in the show has been the love triangle between Damon, Elena and Stefan. Nina Dobrev, who plays Elena (and Katherine), recently gave her thoughts on the love triangle in an interview with EOnline.

Dobrev says during the interview, she feels her character Elena needs to go off and "do her own thing." When it comes to Stefans she doesn't think Elena or Katherine are right for him. She says the younger Salvatore "might need someone who's a little bit more balanced, but also has a little bit more life to them that brings him to life, because otherwise he can really go down a deep, dark hole."

As for the elder Salvatore brother, the 24-year old actress says Elena is good for Damon because "she has really brought out the best in him."

While that may benefit Damon, Dobrev says it wouldn't be any good for her character.

When it boils down to it she says, "Ultimately I think, I think they all need to take a break and find some new people to hang out with."

Tonight's episode will feature a sort of ode to one of the series constant villains - Katherine.

As you can see in the promo below, everyone has gathered to reminisce on all the bad things Katherine has done to them.

"There's a lot of people amongst our heroes who've been waiting for the day that they could watch Katherine Pierce go off gently into that good night," series co-creator Julie Plec said according to TVLine.com.

"There's a strange celebratory element to it," she adds, "which granted, is a little insensitive, but as they start going through all the terrible things she's ever done to them, it seems a little bit merited."

According to the Dobrev interview with EOnline, there could be an "added element" to the Damon/Elena/Stefan/Katherine love situation. An element that will affect everyone. You can check out the interview here. EOnline also reports Klaus and Tyler will appear in the episode and Klaus will get You can watch a sneak peek of the reaction in the 100th episode to the "Delena" break up.
