Bill Cosby Returns to Television for New Show: Actor Strikes Up Deal With NBC, But No Word on Pilot Just Yet

Rumors swirled late last year that Bill Cosby was in the works of making a brand new sitcom, but nothing was confirmed for sure.

Now, it appears the man who made Cliff Huxtable a household name has struck up a deal with NBC, and will soon begin forming a half-hour comedy show, according to a report from Deadline.

The 76-year-old actor hasn't started filming yet, USA Today reported, but it has been confirmed that Cosby will link up with producer Tom Werner for the project.

Werner's company Marcy Carsey produced the The Cosby Show for the total of 197 episodes that ran between 1984 and 1992.

The premise of the new show will center around Cosby, who will, once again, assume the role of the patriarch of a large family. The comedy will also feature Cosby's humorous opinions on raising kids and being married.

According to Deadline, Cosy and Werner have made contact with some writers for the show, but no news on a pilot just yet.

Cosby will soon wrap up a stand-up comedy show named Far from Finished, USA Today reported.

Wonder if the new sitcom will also feature patterned sweaters, one of Cosby's most iconic and identifiable pieces of clothing.
