Minuum Keyboard makes the most impossible task of typing on a small smartwatch screen much easier by occupying just half the screen.

Virtual keyboards on tiny smartwatch screens are just not ideal for typing but  thankfully, Toronto-based startup Whirlscape has come up  with a solution. The new Minuum software keyboard does not take up the entire screen of the smartwatch and features a unique one-row keyboard allowing quick typing with high-end auto correction.

Minuum keyboard replaces the traditional keyboards integrated within a smartphone. It minimizes the size of the keyboard without compromising on the convenience of typing. The virtual keyboard was first launched in beta on Android and supports multiple languages including English, French, Spanish, German and Italian. The paid app may not have got many downloads, but user's reviews suggest the app is working just as promised and timely updates have improved the overall experience on Android smartphones.

Minuum keyboards are not just limited to touch screen devices but have moved into the wearable tech industry too. The company's website states the software can work on different wearable gadgets including game controllers, Google Glass, Kinect, Leap Motion Controller and smartwatches.

The simplified keyboard features a unique one-row keyboard with all the alphabets, numbers, and symbols, fixed within. "Minuum re-imagines the keyboard by reducing a standard layout to a single line - a continuum of letters - letting you type quickly and accurately without needing large keys," the app description on Google Play Store reads. "We enable this by auto-correction algorithms that allow highly imprecise typing, knowing what you mean even if you miss every single letter."

The Minuum keyboard can be seen in full action on a smartwatch in a video by the team. The company claims the video has been filmed in a single take, with no alterations and camera tricks, TechCrunch reports.
