The Montgomery County Police in Maryland released the 911 tapes tied to the murder of two children killed by their mother and another women who believed they were performing an exorcism last week, according to The Washington Post.
Zakieya L. Avery, 28, and Monifa Sanford, 21, were both at the townhouse where two of Avery's children, 1- year-old Norell Harris and 2-year-old Zyana Harris, were stabbed to death when a neighbor called to report a baby sitting in a car outside alone for over an hour, The Post reported.
The first call was placed on Thursday night when the male neighbor reported the baby sitting in the car, according to The Post. During the call, the man told the 911 operator Avery said "she had something going on and she didn't want her baby to be in danger in the house."
During the call the man can be heard speaking to the woman while he tries to get away from her after she comes outside of the townhouse and tell him to mind his own business, according to The Post.
The caller responds and tells her "a kid in a car for an hour is my business," and describes the make of the car to the operator, The Post reported.
Police arrived on the scene later on Thursday but Avery had already taken the baby inside the townhouse and knocks at the door went unanswered, according to The Post. The officers left, stating there was no suspicious activity, and called social services and planned for them to stop by on Friday morning.
The second 911 call was placed on Saturday, Jan. 18, when a woman called and asked police to come check out a townhouse which had a parked car left with the door open with a bloody knife on the floor nearby, according to The Post.
The woman also told the operator she believed children were inside the townhouse. Officers arrived and removed the keys from inside the cars ignition and entered the townhouse, The Post reported. Avery immediately made a run for the back door but was apprehended as she tried to flee.
The killed children were found on Avery's bed with multiple stab wounds, according to The Post. Avery's two other children were still in the house when police arrived.
Taniya Harris, who is 5-years-old and her brother, Martello Harris, who is 8-years-old were taken to the hospital along with the other woman and treated for their injuries. Avery and Sanford have been arrested and will face two counts each of first degree murder and two counts each of attempted murder, The Post reported.
