Sunanda Pushkar Death: Hospital Calls Death Of Indian Minister's Wife 'Unnatural,' 'Sudden'

A hospital spokesman claimed the death of Sunanda Pushkar, wife of a prominent Indian minister who got in a very public Twitter feud right before she died, "unnatural" and "sudden" on Saturday, CNN International reported.

Authorities confirmed on Friday that Pushkar, wife of Shashi Tharoor, was discovered dead in her room at the Leela Hotel -- days after she hacked Tharoor's Twitter account and accused him of having an affair with Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar.

Her body was transported to the All India Institute of Medicine Sciences for an autopsy report and examination.

"The postmortem has been completed, we have sent samples for toxicology analysis to rule out poisoning," Dr. Sudhir Gupta, head of the autopsy board of the hospital, told CNN.

"This is a preliminary report but we can say that it is a case of unnatural sudden death. There were certain injuries on her body but we can't reveal details at the moment."

Gupta added that a final report will be finished in a few days.

Abhinab Kumar, an aide to Tharoor, told CNN that the couple had been staying in the five-star hotel for a few days.

On Thursday, Pushkar began arguing with Tarar on the social media website, accusing the journalist of "stalking" her husband and having an affair with him.

Additionally, she told the Indian Express that Tharoor and Tarar were having a "rip-roaring affair" since April and found messages on her husband's Blackberry that implied he wanted to a divorce.

Pushkar then criticized Tarar on her own Twitter account, accusing her of being a Pakistani spy, to which the journalist responded with by calling Tharoor's wife a "dumb blond."
