It's been a week since Google has released the December security patch for numerous Android phones. Actually, smartphone companies have started to implement the fixes in the update to some of their flagships. And one of the smartphone that will start receiving the December security patch is the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.

Samsung is one of the companies to release the update. However, the South Korean company has a habit to make these updates available to other smartphones increasingly during a month.

According to a tweet, the December security patch is now available to download for the Galaxy S7 edge users in Australia. Samsung's December security update is in the firmware version named G935FXXU1BPJG.

Samsung Galaxy S7 edge owners who have been accepted in the beta program have already received three Android Nougat beta builds that contained lots of new features.

However, since there's no official change log available yet on the December security patch then there is no telling on what other improvements. Actually, nobody knows still if the handset maker has added any of these things.

Android users now see these monthly updates as the top priority and given that it ensures the device's security and safety. Amongst the vulnerabilities fixed is the notification display error of shade locked state. This bug also showed notifications or private information on locked screen even if that is supposed to stay hidden.

Once you have the notification, you can download and install this update on your smartphone. Do not forget that it is the last security maintenance update of Samsung Galaxy S7 for 2016.

Mobile Hotspot vulnerability by unprotected intent, heap overflow in sensor driver, notification display error of shade locked state, BootReceiver security issue patch and heap overflow in "OTP" service are some of these issues patched

As these updates always go, you will receive a notification saying that your phone has received an update over-the-air (OTA) when it's ready to download and install. Though, if you want to check sooner than you can head to your phone's settings and manually look for the update that way. You can also check for the update manually by heading to Settings / about phone / Update software.
