Some New Mexico drug dealers are taking a leaf out of Walter White's book.
The Department of Homeland Security in Albuquerque, N.M. informed the Associated Press on Tuesday that some distributors are producing and selling blue methamphetamine around the Four Corners area.
Spokesperson Kevin Abar told KOB 4 on Tuesday that meth cookers are tinting the drugs blue, just like the characters in AMC's drama "Breaking Bad" did to brand the specific product as theirs.
"We are seeing an increase in blue meth up in the Four Corners, and into the Farmington region," Abar stated. "It's actually being moved and pushed by various distributors."
Abar added that the drugs have been cut with chemicals to change colors, making the drug less potent, but equally as dangerous.
"It's truly bad," Abar told KOB 4. "It's bad meth that's created a lot of individuals getting sick from utilizing it."
Abar also mentioned he was worried that young people who watched the show would be more inclined to take the drug.
"We're concerned that individuals may find it sexy and want to try it...and it's very addictive," he said.
"Breaking Bad" wrapped up five successful seasons last year, after gaining an enormous cult following.
