The Golden Globe Awards kick start the season of prestigious award ceremonies and it is but obvious that everyone wants to start off on a high note. This year's Golden Globe Awards came with a few surprise wins along with some very predictable one.

Leonardo DiCaprio took home this year's Best Actor Award for "The Wolf of Wall Street."

"I stopped this film and it was like a giant adrenaline dump," he told reporters backstage at the Beverly Hilton, according to Entertainment Weekly . "I haven't been able to work since, really. It was a phenomenal experience. I suppose I've been doing this for a long period of time. Making movies is an interesting process. You put your entire life on hold. And these characters really do envelop you, for better or for worse. So, thank God none of the attributes of this character rubbed off on my real life, because I probably wouldn't be standing here today."

"12 Years A Slave" entered the night with 12 nominations but didn't win anything until the last and arguably most prestigious award for the night was announced - "Best Drama of 2013." The film's director, Steve McQueen, seemed surprised by the win.

"Little bit in shock," he said, according to LA Times. "I wasn't expecting it."

One of the biggest surprises of the night was Fox's first-year cop spoof, "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," winning some of the biggest Television awards for the night. It took home the best comedy series honor, beating the likes of "The Big Bang Theory" and "Modern Family." The show's actor Andy Samberg, was almost speechless when he won for best actor in a comedy series.
