The New York City Fire Department has been battling a stubborn fire at a Manhattan bank for over 11 hours, Saturday.
Three firefighters and four others sustained non-life threatening injuries because of the flames, the Associated Press reported.
The wounded firefighters were transferred to St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital Center on West 59th Street to receive medical attention, while three of the four others received treatment on-site. The fourth was taken to a nearby hospital after suffering from smoke inhalation, according to AP.
A spokesperson from the FDNY told AP that the blaze began in the basement of a Citibank branch located in Morningside Heights at around 5:20 a.m. this weekend.
Almost 200 firefighters were called to the help with the fire, which raged for more than 11 hours at the two-story building.
According to the spokesperson whose identity was not publicized, FDNY members were called to the fire on Broadway from 40 different units.
Heights Bar and Grill, an eatery located next door, was evacuated after smoke and water caused damage to the building, and readings indicated dangerous levels of carbon monoxide.
Firefighters are currently using heavy equipment and bringing in more help from other units to douse the unyielding flames.
