Chinese state broadcaster CCTV has said that US President-elect Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping will meet very soon in order to address the relations status of the two superpower nations.

It can be recalled that Trump has been critical about China during the campaign process. Part of his outspoken threat is to implement a 45 percent tariff on goods manufactured in the Mainland.

Just recently, however, Xi has called his new American counterpart about needing cooperation to keep the two countries on the same page considering that there are many factors where both sides can work together.

This has been confirmed by China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang who says that Beijing puts great significance on its relations with Washington.

The government-owned Chinese outlet adds that the two presidents have promised to maintain close relations in order to institute a harmonious working relationship.

While on the trail to woo voters, Trump calls China as the enemy of the United States. He further goes on a rampage, asserting that Washington will stand up to the giant nation that belittled America. In reference to a surge in Chinese exports, he blames the Politburo for adjusting its currency in order to bolster China's economy.

Trump has also reiterated his promise to reinforce the US Navy with a policy of peace through strength. However, the President-elect shares that involvement in faraway issues is of no significance to him. For instance, the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) free trade pact, which is participated by various Asian nations and seen as an approach to fortify US influence, has antagonized the prospects of creating American jobs.

Shortly after the elections, Barack Obama's successor quips that he looks forward to working with China. The Republican President thinks that a win-win situation can be achieved by both sides.

However, Donald Trump's take on strengthening US position in the international scene can lead to uncertainty especially where its military is involved.

The nationalist Global Times news agency has cautioned that Beijing will institute necessary responses should the Americans make good on its threat to heavily levy Chinese goods.

Part of the countermeasures will probably focus on the imposition of high taxes against US exports and related trade operations. In addition, China will tone down the number of its students attending US schools.

With the way things are running now, Trump has offered no clear agenda with regards to foreign policy. Approaches on Beijing's territorial claims, North Korea's nuclear program and Taiwan's future remain in the dark.
