Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo Image and Specs Leaked; Phone Will Be a "Lite" Version of Note 3 Phablet

Samsung has reportedly been working on a device called the Galaxy Note 3 Neo to join the Galaxy Note 3 phablet. Now, a new leaked image has appeared earlier this week that might show the new device next to its predecessor.

Specs from Samsung's newest Galaxy smartphone appeared earlier this week and now the first image of the phone itself might be available. SamMobile tweeted the picture, seen above, on Friday morning, which apparently shows the Galaxy Note 3 Neo next to the Galaxy Note 3 for comparison.

According to GigaOm, the phones look very similar because they are. The Neo is believed to be a "lite" version of the Galaxy Note 3. In many ways, this phone is more in common with 2012's Galaxy Note 2 than it does with the Galaxy Note 3.

In the photo the Neo is believed to measure around 5.5-inches, the same size as the Galaxy Note 2. It is slightly smaller than the 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 3. The rest of the Neo's features are believed to be in line with the Note 2. It is expected to come with 2GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera with a 2100mAh battery.

The reason that this new device will be getting the Note 3 name is simply that the two devices share software. The Neo is likely to run the same version of the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system, just like the Galaxy Note 3. It will feature Samsung's Magazine UX overlay and support for Air Commands. The Neo is believed to feature a hexacore processor, though the combination of 1.7GHz dual-core and 1.3GHz quad-core chips.
