Apple and Samsung have agreed to a settlement talk before continuing the courtroom battle over smartphone patents in March, according to a court filing , reports Reuters.

The legal wars between the two biggest smartphone making companies, Apple and Samsung, seem never-ending, but a scheduled mediation session may settle the battle between both companies. Samsung and Apple CEOs have agreed to sit  at the same table on or before February 19, 2014, to end the long running  smartphone patent war as the companies head over to the courtrooms in March.

Apple CEO Tim Cook and Samsung CEO Oh-Hyun Kwon will attend the mediation session with their in-house lawyers, after the legal teams representing the tech giants met on January 6 to "discuss settlement opportunities," according to the court filing dated January 8, reports Reuters. The CEOs of both companies along with company lawyers will attend the session. The agreement was filed in the San Jose federal court following the U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh's request in November to hold a settlement discussion before a legal trial.

The mediation will either result in a settlement or continue the legal battle between Apple and Samsung in March. In the last two years Apple has been awarded nearly $930 million by the San Jose, California, federal court.

Both tech giants are known to have their long-running legal battles in several parts of the world. The companies are suing each other for respective smartphone patents. Apple has reportedly paid $60 million as legal fees to a law firm to file patent litigations against Samsung, Reuters reports.
