'Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones' Reviews: Horror Sequel Surprisingly 'Doesn't Suck' (TRAILER)

By now, "Paranormal Activity" has developed a cult following, and those who enjoyed the first five films will likely return to see "Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones".

The film follows the same found-footage style, but is considered a "spin-off" for the series. "Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones" does not follow Kristi's extended family, but enlists a new cast to continue the story.

"The Marked Ones" follows two recent high school graduates who get mixed into something terrible after they find out a murder happened in the apartment below them. Check out what reviewers had to say about the film below.

The Toronto Star gives the film a 1.5 out of 5 stars:

"By now this rapidly deflating franchise should be titled Paranormal Stupidity, because the characters insist on doing all the wrong things. Who in their right minds would open the trap door to a darkened dungeon, with strange noises emanating out of it, and then just stick their heads in? These idiots would."

IGN rates the film a 7.0 out of 10:

"While The Marked Ones does have a few differences from the rest of the series, it's still ultimately following the same path, so it's unlikely to suddenly turn someone around who has disliked the entire thing. But if, like me, you've enjoyed the ongoing story about a bunch of really camera-obsessed people and the spooky things that haunt them, The Marked Ones is another enjoyable chapter."

Rotten Tomatoes audience reviewers certify the film fresh with a 67 percent rating:

"If this wasn't the 5th movie in the series, even the most jaded critics would agree this is a scary and inventive film. But because it's a sequel, critics have already made up their minds that this movie sucks. It doesn't. It really doesn't. And horror movie buffs should rush to see it immediately. It reinvigorates a franchise that needed some new ideas. However, this has been a consistent and terrifying series since 2007," Ryan H. wrote.
