Some northeast airports are cancelling flights ahead of the first snowstorm of the season, Thursday.
Boston's Logan Airport and New York's Albany International announced augmented flight schedules as reports of up to 10 inches of snow, sub-zero temperatures and gusty winds in the northeast surfaced.
Logan stated it has canceled all flights out of the airport starting 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. According to WHDH, flights are expected to resume at an unspecified time on Friday, depending upon the weather.
Albany International Airport officials who spoke with CBS' local station in New York said that the airport was open and running, but a handful of flights had been canceled. 13 departing flights and 16 arriving flights have been stopped thus far, and airport authorities said they expected more of the late-night arriving flights to be nixed as well. Some early morning flights might be cancelled on Friday, CBS reported.
Southwest Airlines stopped all flights for Friday morning until 9:20 a.m.
Although certain airlines will be offering refunds and exemptions, Logan airport urged customers to remain in contact with officials for updated flight information prior to going to the airport.
MassLive reported that blizzard warning and winter storm warnings had been issued for eastern Plymouth County and Cape Cod, while an additional coastal flood warning was released for the eastern Massachusetts coastline.
