At some point during the Vice Presidential discussion, moderator Elaine Quijado of CBS News lost track of reining in Senator Tim Kaine from attacking Governor Mike Pence. No matter what, the Republican Candidate may have pulled off a squeaker in the heated contest.

With the GOP numbers heading South following Donald Trump's dismal performance against Hillary Clinton last week, Mike Pence manages to establish a sense of calm all throughout. His hosting and media experiences have aided him at a time where demeanor will make a difference during the arguments.

Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia comes out with that extra energy in the early going but his approach did not really matter as the Republican Candidate is able to impose stability in the midst of attacks. The Democratic Vice Presidential hopeful took off based on Donald Trump's position on a number of concerns. He pressed his counterpart on controversial issues and statements made by the billionaire businessman.

While discussing about Vladimir Putin, the Senator has been quick to point out Trump's appreciation for the Russian leader. Pence parries by instead discussing America's conservative approach over the last 30 years. It is not exactly a strong line but the Governor is able to stay out of the firing range where Trump's actual position is almost always affiliated with.

Kaine then brings up another controversy which claims that Donald Trump is not paying the correct taxes. To this, Pence simply tackles another issue. When Quijado presses on, the Governor from Indiana picks up a famous line, saying that the business mogul is still undergoing audit from the IRS.

When the Virginia politician accuses the Governor about raising taxes on the middle class, Mike Pence argues that it will be done in order to meet the obligations of Social Security and Medicare which the Democrats have drowned in debt.

Throughout the debate, Pence has been remarkable in warding off attacks about dubious topics. Instead of dueling on cases that seem to pin down the Republicans, he jumps onto a favorable subject to keep the terrain on course.

At a certain instance, the Senator floors Pence with Trump's past wrangling to which the latter responded that it is the Clinton side that started all the insult-driven bickering.

Regarding the proposed ban on Muslims in the US, the Governor set things straight by saying that the safety and security of the American people come first. On suggesting that severe penalties be imposed against women who undergo abortion, Pence promptly counters that the Republicans will never support such legislation. He adds that Trump's comments come out wrong because he is often misinterpreted.

The Republican Candidate's parrying tactic may have worked judging from the exasperated Virginia Senator's statement when he stated that Pence refused to defend Trump's position.

According to a CNN/ORC survey, around 48 percent of voters think that Pence was terrific the entire night. 42 percent support Kaine's arguments. An estimated two-thirds of the debate watchers have commented that the Governor performed better than initially anticipated.
