One Fifth of US Consumers Interested in Purchasing 'iWatch', Survey Shows

According to a new survey conducted by ChangeWave Research, 19 per cent of U.S. consumers may be interestinged in buying an iWatch device when it's comes out on the market.

ChangeWave’s survey of 1,713 primarily North American consumers between March 4-19 shows interest in the iWatch is nearly identical to that for the iPad and iMac before they were released.

5 percent said they're "very likely" to purchase the iWatch. An additional 14 percent said they are "somewhat likely."

"Apple’s track record of delivering ultra-convenient, easy to use products with a perceived ‘cool factor’ is driving pre-release demand for the rumored Apple iWatch,” ChangeWave’s Andy Golub said.

The main reason for consumer's interest in buying the iWatch was their Loyalty to Apple (18%) with a disproportionately high number of Apple product owners saying they’re likely to buy an iWatch.

Other reasons to buy the new device were Convenience (16%), Cool Factor (14%) and Ease of Integrating with Other Apple Products (11%).

However, Apple has made no official comment about iWatch beyond Apple board member Bill Campbell's comment when he praised Glass and stated that it is part of a burgeoning wearable computer market including smart watches.
