The day before the New York State primary, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton met up with television host Stephen Colbert at the world-famous Carnegie Deli.

In the segment for Colbert's "The Late Show," they discussed the former Secretary of State's granddaughter and her husband Bill's newfound love of healthy eating while snacking on cheesecake.

Colbert asked Clinton if Bill was a "smug vegan" and if he had a problem with her still eating meat. When Clinton answered "no," Colbert went into a perfect impression of the former president.

"He never says, like, 'That sandwich had a face,'" Colbert asked her. "'That sandwich is somebody's little baby' - nothing like that?"

Clinton insisted that her husband was "a very open-minded vegan."

Later in the interview, Colbert asked Clinton how his impression of her husband was.

"Is it spooky? If you close your eyes, you don't know, maybe he's here?" Colbert asked.

"It's really good, actually" Clinton admitted.

While Colbert did not mention Clinton's Democratic opponent Bernie Sanders once during the entire interview, the former "Colbert Report" host did ask about GOP front-runner Donald Trump.

"Politics seem to be finding common ground," the host said. "What do you have in common with your likely opponent Donald Trump, other than the fact you have beautiful daughters and you both were at his wedding?"

"I'm not sure yet. I'm not sure what I have in common with him," Clinton said, pivoting away as fast as possible. "However, when you are president and you're working with the Congress, there are lots of opportunities to find common ground."

The topic of conversation then turned away from politics and towards Clinton's other role as a grandmother. The candidate's daughter Chelsea had her first child, Charlotte, back in 2014 and announced in December that she is expecting her second child with husband Marc Mezvinsky. Clinton admitted to being "subversive," and told Colbert that her husband was even more of a pushover when it came to their granddaughter.

Before the interview was over, Colbert ordered a piece of cheesecake from the deli and showed Clinton the proper way to eat a piece - by using his hands and shoving a huge chunk of the cake into his mouth.
