Microsoft may include the Start Button and allow users to boot to the desktop screen directly rather than going through "Metro" interface in its upcoming update Windows 8.1 also called Windows Blue, according to ZDnet.
Microsoft launched its Windows 8 operating systems for computers, tablets and laptops, October last year with a fresh new look but was not favored much among the users as they found the new OS confusing. Despite facing mixed criticism, Microsoft managed to sell more than 60 million licenses for its Windows 8 by January, which includes both sales and upgrades.
However, Microsoft may not have ignored its users' dissatisfaction. According to reports from ZDnet and IT Pro, Microsoft may bring back two of the biggest options, Start Button and allowing users to boot straight to the desktop, which was excluded in Windows 8. These basic options, which are a part of Windows 7, will also make their way to Windows 8 through the latest Windows update 8.1 otherwise known as Windows Blue.
There has been no confirmation about bringing back either one or both of these options as a part of Blue release, which is likely to be available to general public by August. But reports confirm that a public preview of Windows Blue is likely to go live around June, when all specs will be detailed.
According to IT Pro report, Windows Blue is likely to include several other updates packed together, similar to Apple's OS X updates. Other than the Start Button and Boot to Desktop options, Windows Blue may allow users to resize Live Tiles, advanced sharing option through Share Charm, Metro Apps resizing option and its default Internet Explorer browser updated to version 11.
Details of Windows Blue will be revealed at Build 2013 Conference to be held in June.
