What holiday season would be complete without at least one viewing of the classic holiday hit "A Christmas Story?" The film has become such a staple in the holiday season that many fan's seasons are not complete until they see Randy Laying like a slug, Ralphs Red Ryder Carbine Action 200 shot range model air rifle (with a compass and a stock and this thing which tells time) and, of course, Flick sticking his tongue to the frozen pole.
These moments have become so iconic that the famous street performance group "Improv Everywhere" decided to make the pole licking scene the subject of its final installment in its "Movies In Real Life" series.
The clip, shown below, shows three young boys acting out the famous "triple dog dare" on a subway in New York City. The car that the reenactment took place in was fitted with hidden cameras and shows the trio get on the car and do a line-for-line retelling of the famous scene in which Schwarts, played here by 11-year-old Sebastian Thomas, issues the final challenge to 13-year-old Josh Caggiano, who played the role of Flick.
For those already cringing at the idea of someone putting his tongue on a pole in the New York City subway, you can watch the video without fear, Improve Everywhere fitted Caggiano with a prosthetic tongue that stuck to the pole thanks to a magnet in the end of it, according to Yahoo News.
Most onlookers had mixed reactions with half of the car apparently delighted by the homage to the classic scene and the other clearly a little flustered that a young boy's tongue was magically stuck to a pole. Before any of the passengers were forced to take action, a real New York City firefighter, who was also in on the trick, boarded the train and told everyone to remain calm while he freed the boy's tongue.
"This happens a lot this time of year," he says to the applauding crowd. You can see the video below and, when it's over, we'd like to triple dog dare you to comment and share your thoughts on it with us.
