"Praise the Lord. Quincy is here! 8 lbs. 8 oz. 20 inches long we are all doing great thank you for your love prayers and support!" tweeted Kim Fields, best known from her child-actress days as "Tootie" on "The Facts of Life" sitcom in the '80s, on the arrival of her new born son.
Born on Tuesday morning in Atlanta, the 44-year-old actress gave birth to her second son, Quincy Xavier Morgan, with husband Christopher Morgan, 37, People reported.
"We are so blessed and grateful to God for this newest gift to our family," the couple told People through a rep who confirmed the birth.
Already parents to a 6-year-old son, Sebastian Alexander, Fields and Broadway actor Morgan got married in July 2007 and announced her second pregnancy in July
"It was planned. We've actually been trying for a couple years," she said at the time. "We had gotten pregnant twice and (miscarried). If I'm encouraging to anybody ... it's not like I'm the poster child for over 40 and pregnant."
Having thought she was premenopausal, Fields went to the doctor complaining of dehydration, the actress-turned-director was surprised to learn of that she was two months pregnant, reported ABC News.
According to US Weekly, on the show "The Real", Fields said she picked her new baby's name when she was five months along.
After starring in the 90's Fox sitcom "Living Single" for five years, she is currently a successful TV director. She's directed several episodes of "Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns" and "Tyler Perry's House of Payne.
The actress appears pregnant in her latest venture "Holiday Love: The Rebirth," a scripted musical-comedy special, which she directed and which she and Morgan also executive produced. It features performances by gospel artists Wess Morgan, Micah Stampley and Donnie McClurkin.
