Texas Man Who Escaped from Terrell State Hospital Found After Three Days On the Run (VIDEO)

Texas officials have found a man who left Terrell State Hospital on Saturday afternoon without proper clearance, CBS' local affiliate reported on Tuesday.

Leslie Tyrone Ellison reportedly fled at around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, without the necessary authorization. After a nearly 3-day long search, Ellison was found at a Seagoville Inn off State Highway 175 and Belt Line Road, where he had boarded himself up in a bathroom on Wednesday morning. He was reportedly staying with a woman at the motel, according to the Dallas News.

The hunt for Ellison began on Saturday, after he swallowed three AA batteries. Emergency response officials rushed him to the facility for medical attention in an ambulance. But on the way to the hospital, the 32-year-old started fighting back against authorities, police told CBS. The man then kicked open a door and ran out of the hospital's care.

Shortly after police began the search for Ellison, they learned he'd stolen a Chevy Avalanche. When they located the vehicle shortly after receiving initial reports, they gave chase. The wanted man took police on a high-speed ride from Dallas to Seagoville, then back to Dallas, CBS reported. The chase ultimately ended near Shady Creek Mobile Home Park, after Ellison jumped out of the car and continued on foot.

Neighbor Glenda Castillo's house was located a few yards from where the fugitive abandoned the car. She said she thought that Ellison ran through her yard to escape, since both the gates leading to her home were open.

"We just know because my geese got out," Castillo told CBS. "That's how we know it was opened. But we usually put chains - see the chain on it?"

Ellison was not arrested, nor were police officers initially involved in the pursuit of Ellison. It wasn't until Terrell Hospital authorities phoned law enforcement officials for help that authorities jumped in to assist.
