Rob Ford Mania at Buffalo Bills Game: Toronto Mayor Steals Musician’s Seat, Weathers Storm of Attention From Fans at Rogers Center (TWEETS)

When Canadian musician Matt Mays bought a single $250 ticket to the Buffalo Bills game on Sunday, he didn't expect to stumble upon Toronto Mayor Rob Ford sitting in his seat.

"It was funny," Mays told the Toronto Star after he walked up to his assigned chair number 101, row 35, in section 133 and saw the embattled mayor, grinning, red and sweaty, watching the game. "Out of 60,000 seats, he chose mine."

Mays bought tickets to the Bills-Atlanta Falcons game on a whim, he said. Shortly after he saw Ford in his seat, he tweeted, "Rob Ford is sitting in my seat at the Bills game. He stole my seat. I don't know what to do."

He later tweeted that he got his seat back, but was hesitant to confront Ford face-to-face.

"I didn't say anything to him," Mays said. "I'm a passive guy, so I'd rather get it out via a tweet."

Ford was flanked by his security guard and personal driver, who kept an eye on the increasing number of Bills fans who realized that the mayor was present.

Most attendees were pleasant toward Ford, who recently has come under fire for lewd comments, strange behavior, and admitting to smoking crack and having an alcohol problem.

"I want to shake your hand," one fan said as he walked toward the mayor. "You're the best, buddy."

According to the Star, Ford didn't say much. He nodded and smiled in return.

"Hey, Rob, time to get the Bills in Toronto for good," one man sitting behind the mayor yelled.

"I'm working on it," Ford replied, turning in his chair to respond.

When one woman asked to take a photo with Ford, he said that he was "going to do something at halftime."

That "something" turned into all-out mania: fans rushed to take photos with Ford while he stood near the VIP concession section. Others lined up, filling six or seven rows as they waited for a chance to shake the mayor's hand. Police officers stood watch as people who originally showed up to Rogers Center to watch the Bills shifted their focus.

A Rogers security guard stationed nearby said people were largely nice to Ford. Many lifted their drinks in support of the mayor.

"One person yelled out, 'You're a loser,' but that was it," guard David told the Star.
