Before suiting up as the Dark Knight in "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice," Ben Affleck sought out the advice of the man who last played the DC superhero on the big screen - Christian Bale. The advice he received from Bale was a tidbit everyone planning to suit up as a superhero should take under advisement.

"Make sure you can piss in that suit," Bale told him. The "Knight of Cups" star recounted his own misadventures with wearing the Batman suit in an interview with E! News.

"It's essential," he said about having easy access to pee during filming. "You don't feel much like a superhero when someone has to help you pee."

Relieving himself wasn't the only trouble Bale had with his bat suit. In "Batman Begins," the first movie in the trilogy helmed by Christopher Nolan, the 42-year-old actor had such problems getting comfortable in the costume, he started to question why he had been cast in the first place.

"I felt ridiculous and stupid. It didn't fit," Bale said. "I just left like a rat prat. And then by the time it did fit, I was like I can't do this because I'm claustrophobic. I'm hyperventilating and they cast the wrong person."

His entire portrayal of the Caped Crusader over three films left Bale a little disappointed. He had hoped to showed the darkness of Batman despite his heroic actions, but felt that he "didn't quite nail it." He also pointed to Heath Ledger's Oscar-winning performance as eclipsing anything he could have done in his opposing role.

"Heath turned up, and just kind of completely ruined all my plans," Bale told Yahoo. 'Because I went, 'He's so much more interesting than me and what I'm doing.'"

Affleck will play an older version of Bruce Wayne aka Batman in the new Warner Bros. movie "Batman v. Superman," directed by Zack Snyder. He stars opposite Henry Cavill as Superman, who debuted his DC Comics hero in 2013's "Man of Steel." They will be joined by Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor as well as Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane and Jeremy Irons.

"Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" premieres in theaters on March 25.
