Marcel and Rebekah were pretty confident in their plan to take down Klaus. In fact, it looked as if their plan would work as their army put Klaus in chains and continued to beat him. However, all that confidence dwindled as Rebekah's brother went hybrid-bezerk and killed half of the army. At the end of the episode Klaus handed Elijah the white oak stake and tried to give Elijah and Rebekah the biggest guilt trip for betraying him. However, according to an interview Claire Holt, who plays Rebekah, did with the Wall Street Journal, Klaus' show of force and guilt trip won't make it easy for Rebekah to chose Klaus over Marcel.
"She wants to have a life with him," Holt told the WSJ's Speakeasy. "That didn't happen when they fled, now he is offering that again, to have the life she's always wanted. It is so hard for her to say no to this.
"It is not just a new exciting life, but something she has craved for years and years and years and she doesn't want to live under rule of brother. But her heart is a huge downfall, she is blinded by love and she needs to feel normal at times."
Despite what Rebekah wants, Holt said she doesn't know if her character "is just going to stand on her own and forget about the loyalty to her family."
Speaking of relationships, Klaus' other sibling Elijah is in a complicated situation of his own - the fact he has feelings for Hayley, the girl carrying his brothers child.
"It seems like the more that they try and resist it, the more that it snowballs," Daniel Gillies recently said to TVLine of his character and Hayley. "It will be interesting to see where that develops to, because I sense him - at the moment, in the scripts - pulling away really hard, which can signify one of two things: That he's either really going to jump in with both feet or he's gonna wrench himself away from it."
Hayley and Elijah's romance may be made more difficult since Klaus took Hayley away to his new home at the end of the last episode.
