The estranged wife of convicted killer George Zimmerman appeared on Katie Couric's talk show, Thursday, when she described her ex-husband as a "ticking time-bomb."
"I don't know who George is anymore," 27-year-old Shellie Zimmerman told Couric during her show "Katie." "I'd like to think I married a person who was a good person, and going through the past year and a half, I don't know how that changes a person, or how a person's spirit breaks, but it certainly seems that's what happened to him."
Shellie's interview comes just a few days after George Zimmerman had yet another scuffle in court. During a fight with his current girlfriend Samantha Scheibe, 27, Zimmerman allegedly pulled a long-barreled shotgun on the reportedly pregnant woman, after using the firearm to smash through her glass coffee table. Both parties were said to have made separate calls to Florida police.
But it was Zimmerman's original trial concerning the case of unarmed teen Trayvon Martin that Shellie said turned him into a "pacing lion."
The former neighborhood watch volunteer who was acquitted in July testified that he opened fire on Martin in defense, citing Florida's "Stand Your Ground" legislation.
"I certainly hope that there are no casualties," Shellie told Couric, according to the New York Daily News. "I know I am certainly afraid. I just hope that he can get the help that he needs to deal with this situation and that no one else will be hurt."
Shellie and Zimmerman have had several brushes with the law, including an instance where Shellie accused Zimmerman of breaking an iPad in the middle of a violent and heated argument.
Shellie said that she hopes she can help other women who need to "leave a dysfunctional relationship."
"I hope to be a warning to other women, that if somebody shows you who they really are, that you should believe them."
