In Australia, merino sheep are bred for their high quality wool. They grow tons of it, so being neglected or left alone for a very short time can lead to health problems very quickly, reported the Dodo. Unfortunately, this is a common occurrence because so many sheep are bred in Australia, and this is what happened to Horace.

Horace was wandering in a field, very sick and infested with maggots, and moving slowly. Lucky for him, he was close to the Willowite Animal Sanctuary, and owner Pete Crosbie found him standing all alone. He brought him home and has been caring for him diligently since Jan. 28. He has posted photos of the animal's progress on his Facebook page.

Horace is currently being nursed back to health. "He lay quietly while we sheared him, treated the maggots and administered antibiotics, vitamins and amino acids via injection," said Crosbie on Facebook, according to PetsFans. "Though quite anemic and weak, we are very hopeful this beautiful boy will make a full recovery."

The difference between photos of him before and after being nursed back to health are incredible to behold. He's already looking so much better, and he's also made a new friend at the sanctuary - a rooster named Ruben!

"Horace is up and about, eating and pooweeing [pooping and peeing]. Anyone who cares for sick animals knows how good it feels to say that. He is going to take a couple of weeks of good food and rest before he joins the gang, but he is doing really well given his story," added Crosbie on Facebook Jan. 29.

We love a happy ending!
