Chris Bosh had a very serious and life-threatening health scare last season when it was revealed that he was dealing with blood clots. Because of the clots, Bosh was forced to miss the last few months of the season for the Miami Heat. Bosh worked his way back this season and was playing at an extremely high level while saying that he felt great, but this past weekend, he was forced to pull out of the All-Star festivities. The Heat are concerned that Bosh may be dealing with another blood clot, according to Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press

Bosh was set to participate in both Sunday night's All-Star game and Saturday night's three-point contest, but he pulled out with what was called a calf strain, according to J.A. Adande of ESPN. At the time, Bosh didn't seem all that concerned about the calf issue, as he said he was just taking precaution so that he was good for the stretch run of the season.

After undergoing more tests, however, it was revealed that Bosh is dealing with another blood clot scare. Bosh has not yet been ruled out for the rest of the season, and he will take the rest of the All-Star break to determine his next course of action. The 31-year-old forward is reportedly confident that he will be able to play again this season.

This is the second consecutive season that Bosh is dealing with blood clots, but last year, the clots were in his lungs. There has been no indication that these clots, which are in his calf, have made their way to his lungs, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. Either way, blood clots are always a very serious matter, and Bosh has things other than basketball to worry about before even considering getting back on the court.

After recovering from the clots in his lungs last year, doctors told Bosh that there was a "fairly low risk" of another clot, but unfortunately, it seems like it has happened anyway. Last season, in order to deal with the blood clot, Bosh was taking blood thinners, and he may have to do so again. Athletes that participate in contact sports are not supposed to play on blood thinners, so if he does decide to go that route, his season would likely be over.
