The rest of you, let’s go.
Last night’s episode revealed a few things about Peter Pan:
No. 1—He’s dying and literally needs the heart of the truest believer to survive
No. 2—Once he takes Henry’s heart, Henry will die and Pan will be immortal
No. 3—Probably the biggest reveal of all—Pan is Rumple’s Father Malcolm.
When Rumple was young his father used to make money by tricking people in card games. One day, a man figured out the game Rumple’s dad was playing and stole all his money. Malcolm sent his son to live with two ladies while he searched for a job. He even gave Rumple a straw doll to keep him company and told him to name it. While Rumple was staying with the two ladies, they gave him a magic bean and told him to leave his dad and travel to another land because his dad will be a burden. However, after finding his dad was cheating people once again, Rumple told Malcolm they could teleport to another land using the bean. Malcolm decides to go to a place he used to dream about as a boy—Neverland. However, upon their arrival Malcolm realizes things aren’t as he left them. He can no longer use his imagination to simply do whatever he wants, like fly. After he climbs a tree to get some pixie dust—and realizes that’s a failure as well—the shadow inhabiting the island says Malcolm can’t do anything on the island because he’s an adult. Therefore, he must let go of the one responsibility that makes him an adult—his son. As the shadow takes Rumple away, we see Malcolm transform into the boy we know to be the Season 3 villain. After Rumple returns home we find out the name he gave the straw doll—Peter Pan.
