Customizing your Android smartphone with one of the most popular Android ROMs, CyanogenMod, has been made easy with a one-click installer launched on the Google Play Store.

The official app for CyanogenMod is now available in Google Play Store. After deciding to form a company last month, CyanogenMod has launched its easy-to-install Android based software. The mobile app is accompanied by a PC client application that helps users with the installation process.

The CyanogenMod team has simplified the complicated process of finding, downloading, installing, and configuring CyanogenMod on a smartphone with just one click. The company announced Tuesday that the Android alternative is out of the beta phase for a global launch. Now users can try the new operating system, which offers several extra features and customization options.

"The reception and demand we've received for the installer shows the value in breaking down the barrier to entry that we sought to address," CyanogenMod said in a blog post. "We will continue to work on supporting additional devices beyond the initial set, but we are proud to say that we are supporting the majority of flagship models currently on the market."

To get started, users can download the new Google Play app and the desktop client app. Connect the smartphone to the PC using a USB cable and click install on the phone app. After approximately 20 minutes a new copy of CyanogenMod will be installed.

Note: Before initiating the installation process, users must backup all important files and programs as the new mobile OS will wipe the phone data completely. See the list of supported devices for the CyanogenMod here.

With the new CyanogenMod on the phone, users can customize their smartphone to an extent where the stock Android phone limits itself. Features like PrivacyGuard, DSPManager and latest OTA updates that are not regulated by carriers, can be installed on the phone.
