Demi Lovato Returns for 'X-Factor' Season 3

Fox Network announced Thursday that Demi Lovato will return as a judge for the "X Factor" Season 3, reports Reuters.

Lovato, who judged season 2, along with Britney Spears as replacements to Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger, will be continuing as a judge in the next season of the U.S. talent show. Simon Cowell, creator of the series, and the 20-year old pop star are the only two confirmed judges for the new series, which is likely to start in fall.

"I couldn't be happier that Demi wants to come back this year," Cowell said in a statement. "She's a superstar in her own right and was a fantastic mentor last year. Even though she can be really, really annoying - I truly enjoyed working with her and so did the artists."

According to a Reuters report, a source said that there would be four judges for the new season of X Factor U.S.A. This leaves two empty seats on the judges' panel. Record producer Antonio "L.A." Reid, who also left the show last year to focus on his own production house.

Lovato seemed excited to return as a judge.

"Last season was an unbelievable experience, and I really enjoyed developing personal relationships with the contestants and the panel," Lovato said in a statement. "I look forward to taking my previous experience and applying it to make this season even better!"

Auditions to fill in the participants are ongoing, selected participants will perform in front of the judges in fall this year.
