There are many types of characters in the CW’s new drama “Reign.” One of the more diabolical characters is Queen Catherine, played by Megan Follows.

There probably isn’t much argument that Catherine is on a mission to take down Mary (Adelaide Kane). However, according to a recent interview Follows did with TVLine.com, her character has a bigger goal in mind—surviving.

Follows discussed the fate of Colin, Lola’s boyfriend, in the series premiere. Although he died , Follows explained that wasn’t her character's plan at first.

However, Follows said having people killed may could eventually become the plan.

“Well, it depends on how threatened I am,” she told TVLine’s Kimberly Roots. “That’s what’s fun for me as an actor, and what’s not fun for the character, is that it’s a game of survival.”

“I have to be very careful,” Follows added. “And when you get threatened and seemingly backed into corners, [that determines] how drastic the measures become. She doesn’t do it just for the fun or the sake of causing mayhem or destruction. It’s stemming out of a heightened sense of survival.”

In tonight’s episode of Reign, Mary will have to use some survival tactics of her own. According to a sneak peek provided on the “Reign” Facebook page, England may be stirring up trouble. Also, Mary must figure out who’s plotting against her.

(It’s funny that it happens to be the lady a few paragraphs up.)

“Reign” airs Thursdays at 9/8c on The CW.
