Pretty Little Liars Halloween Episode Recap: Ali is Alive; Backdoor Pilot to Ravenswood

I am a grown man but I will admit—there were moments in last night’s Halloween episode that legitimately scared me.

Nevertheless lets look at the highlights from the episode

--EzrA keeps tabs on the girls

Ezra called Aria to find out where she is (even though he already knows). She tells him she’s in Ravenswood and he tells her to be careful. (Suuurreee Ezra).

--“Pretty Little Liars” meets “Ravenswood”

On his way to Ravenswood Caleb meets Miranda who is heading to the scary town to find her uncle. Her uncle may be the only family she has left. The two travelers bond over their life in the foster system. Also on the bus is a creepy man who will become relevant in the series premiere of “Ravenswood”. (They’re also the main characters in “Ravenswood”.) The Liars run into twins Luke and Olivia. The girls originally think Luke is board shorts—he obviously isn’t.

--A Journey underground

The Liars follow what they think is Ali into a graveyard crypt. The crypt leads to an underground tunnel. While underground they lose Hanna.

--Hanna and the telephone booth

Fortunately Hanna makes it from the underground tunnel into the house. Unfortunately, she gets stuck inside a phone booth. While in the phone booth she sees what she thinks is Ali putting her face to the glass. However, it seems Ali is pulled away by Ezra in his creepy costume.

--Miranda and Caleb’s first mystery

The two main characters from “Ravenswood” venture into the crypt where Miranda finds her name and picture on the wall. However, it appears the picture was taken years ago. As in hundreds of years ago. Also, Miranda definitely isn’t dead.

--Miranda and Hanna meet

Miranda ventures into the house alone and is able to get Hanna out of the phone booth. She and Hannah head back to the graveyard where they meet Caleb.

--Spencer loses to A

Spencer ventures into a greenhouse where she runs into EzrA. A fight ensues and at first Spencer gets the upper hand by knocking A to the floor with a piece of plywood. However, when she goes to unmask A he gets back up and takes her out

--Hannah gives Caleb permission to stay

Hannah tells Caleb she trusts him to stay in Ravens wood and help Miranda find her uncle, which nicely sets up “Ravenswood.”

Caleb and Mirana Have the Same Problem

--Caleb and Miranda make their way back to the graveyard where Caleb sees a gravestone—his gravestone. Just like Miranda, his picture (one from very long ago) and name are on a tombstone when he clearly isn’t dead.

--Ezra to the rescue

The girls have a flat tire but never fear, Ezra arrives to take them home.

--She’s Alive!!!

So all those time the girls thought they saw Ali—they did see Ali. After the girls are dropped off at Spencer’s house, they see Ali and run after her into the back yard. In her red coat she turns around and reveals herself to them. She explains she’s in danger and can’t talk long. She tells the girls she needs their help and Hannah must remember what Ali told her in the hospital. Pretty soon Ezra returns to give Aria her cellphone back. After he hands Aria the phone the girls look back. Ali is gone.

“Pretty Little Liars” returns Tuesday, January 7 on ABC Family.
