The Auburn Tigers visit the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday for an SEC showdown. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. ET. Listen to the live radio broadcast HERE.
The Aggies have won four straight games since losing to Alabama in September. Now at 5-1, A&M hopes to improve to 3-1 in the SEC with a win over Auburn.
A&M ranks seventh in the nation, and much of that success can be attributed to the play of quarterback Johnny Manziel. His 305.8 passing yards per game rank him first in the SEC, the Associated Press reports. Through six games, the reigning Heisman winner has completed 131-of-179 (73.2%) of his passes for 1,835 yards, 14 touchdowns and five interceptions; he's tallied 438 yards on the ground and five rushing touchdowns.
Manziel's prolific stats, along with the wins to go with them, have convinced Auburn coach Gus Malzahn that Manziel is the best offensive player in the nation.
"He's probably the best offensive player in college football. He's very good within their system but he's probably even better once things break down," Malzahn told the team's website, via the Associated Press. "He's a great backyard player. He makes very good decisions and puts a lot of pressure on the defense.
"It's almost like watching a video game sometimes with the stuff he does."
Auburn should receive a boost with the return of quarterback Nick Marshall. The junior, who's returning from a knee injury, is similar to Manziel in his ability to create plays out of the pocket.
"Nick is great on his feet," Auburn running back Tre Mason said. "He can do some of the things Johnny can do. He's great on his feet, if not even better. That guy is just a complete athlete and people need to look out for him because he's going to be making plays himself.
"He's a great leader. He's a great athlete. He's somebody we need going into this game to make his plays and get this 'W.'"
