A man carrying a knife boarded a school bus and took over the driver's seat in Arkansas after a failed attempt at taking a woman's car, CNN reported.
Nicholas John Miller, 22, entered the bus on Thursday morning in a suburb of Little Rock, joining 11 other children and the driver from Pinewood Elementary School.
Before boarding the bus, Miller tried demanding a car from a woman in Jacksonville, who "did not have one to give," Jacksonville police said in a news release.
After he left the woman, he approached the bus and she called police, who eventually tracked down the bus and stopped it in nearby Cabot.
"We were able to get the bus stopped. The suspect was taken into custody, and nobody was injured," he said.
Miller was charged with vehicle piracy, kidnapping, and aggravated assault. However, he was not booked in the county jail by the afternoon and it is unknown if he has an attorney yet.
It is still unclear why the bus was hijacked.
A secretary at the elementary school said parents were being notified of the incident throughout the day.
