Greed is delaying the production and subsequent release of the "Entourage" movie. Mark Wahlberg, the show's executive producer, said on Monday the movie is being held up because of "greedy" cast members.
There's been talk about Vincent Chase and the crew appearing on the big screen since the HBO series concluded in 2011. For all intents and purposes, it's going to happen - if certain crew members stop being greedy.
TMZ caught up with Wahlberg on Monday at LAX. Asked when the "Entourage" movie would begin shooting, Wahlberg answered: "As soon as them guys stop being so greedy."
He added, "It's one of those things where if the movie's a success, we'll get to make a lot more of them and then we'll probably make a lot of money."
Wahlberg declined to call out anyone specifically, but the New York Post's Page 6 reported in September that Jeremy Piven (Ari Gold) signed his contract on Aug. 29. Ent411.com cited the Page 6 article and reported Kevin Connolly (Eric Murphy) is also signed on.
Based on Connolly's Twitter account, he's eager to start shooting.
That leaves just Adrian Grenier (Vincent Chase), Kevin Dillon (Johnny 'Drama' Chase) and Jerry Ferrara (Turtle) as the only principle actors left unsigned - presumably the ones who Wahlberg referred to as "greedy."
The Page 6 report made a similar claim and said certain cast members are holding out for bigger paychecks.
As for the movie itself, Wahlberg confirmed in January that the script was complete and Warner Bros. was ready to finance the movie. He had anticipated beginning production in May with a release date in April or May 2014.
