Many Apple consumers have reported that their high-end iPhone 5S is showing the “blue screen of death” (BSOD).
In addition to previous negative comments about the iOS 7 which have users complaining of difficulty using iMessages and batteries draining faster than before, a new problem has been reported. Apple users are now seeing the “blue screen of death” (BSOD), also known as “bluescreen,””stop screen,” or “bug check screen.”
BSOD is an error screen displayed by operating systems after a crash. It was first identified in Windows OS since Windows 3.1. It is usually caused by a hardware malfunction, a faulty memory, battery issue, or overheating. Other devices previously identified to have BSOD issues are Xbox, MAC OS X 10.5 Leopard, Game Boy Advance, and Nintendo DS.
Some iPhone 5S users noticed the BSOD problem after using some apps. Such would be understandable only after using a foreign app. However, there are reports from some users that the BSOD appeared while they were using the device’s pre-installed Safari, FaceTime, and other apps like Pages, Numbers, or Keynote apps.
Last month, an iPhone 5S owner posted on the Apple Forums saying that when he opens a file in Numbers and press the power button quickly just to initiate “sleep,” the phone instead will turn off.
Another iPhone 5S user posted, "I am having the same problem myself when using the pages app to open my saved resume and then trying to email it to someone. If i do that then go to open the notes app that I have a typed message I want to copy and paste in the same email, as soon as I paste it in the email the screen goes blue and restarts."
As of the moment, reports and complaints are still continuously flooding this week.
Of course, this is yet just another glitch that Apple will hopefully be able to correct immediately and many wishes to have it fixed soon.
