Miami Dolphins defensive end Cameron Wake has reportedly torn his Achilles tendon in his left leg, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.

The worry for the 33-year-old defensive end is that he could lose some explosiveness coming back from an injury this significant, according to Darin Gantt of Pro Football Talk. Players like Terrell Suggs have done it in the past, but it looks to be a long road before Wake can return to the field.

An MRI done this morning has reportedly confirmed the Dolphins' worst fears, which is that Wake is done with the season with a torn Achilles, according to the Miami Herald. The Dolphins took a tough loss to the New England Patriots Thursday night and may have lost some other players in the process.

Right tackle Ja'Waun James left Thursday's game in the first half in what is being called a toe injury. James was seen in a walking boot after the game, and the team fears that he could miss multiple games.

Wide receiver DeVante Parker suffered a foot injury against the Patriots, but the Dolphins seem optimistic that he won't miss any time. "It was only some tissue thing," said Parker, via Miami Herald. "I'll be fine. I'm fine."

The Dolphins looked to be turning it around under interim head coach Dan Campbell, but they couldn't produce any offense against the Patriots and fell to 3-4 in the season. Losing a player like Wake is a huge blow to this defense. The Dolphins star defensive end had already recorded seven sacks and four forced fumbles this season. With Wake out, players like Ndamukong Suh will have to step up in creating pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
