T-Mobile confirmed on Wednesday that it is offering free global data roaming in more than 100 countries.
According to Apple Insider, T-Mobile International said that it will remove international data fees and lessen voice call costs in more than a hundred countries, thus, giving their valued customers unlimited roaming data and SMS sending. In the case of voice calls, though it is not free, the international carrier will charge a flat rate of 20 cents per minute when roaming, with no hidden charges or additional monthly fees.
T-Mobile’s “Uncarrier Phase 3,” through a photo that is uploaded on its website, teases the launching of free data coverage. Shortly after, a supplementary image was uploaded and seen on the ShakiraMega. The image explains T-Mobile’s other surprise: International star Shakira had joined in a multi-year team-up agreement with T-Mobile to help in the “creation of unique content, fan engagement.”
The photo, which also serves as a promotional strategy, seemingly shows international coverage spreading across North and South America, as well as in Europe and some places in Asia.
T-Mobile chief executive John Legere,, posted on Twitter on Wednesday that their company is about to “change the way the world uses their phones.”
The carrier also said that its high speed data coverage, 4G LTE network, can now reach more than 200 million people in 233 metro areas across the U.S.
T-Mobile’s revival is due to its tempting and alluring wireless plans, with some of which allowed users to avail of new phones with no down payment or to make their contracts shorter.
Those strategically formed promos prompted rival carriers to create their own like promotional strategies just to compete with T-mobile.
T-Mobile also confirmed that iPhone users can also take pleasure in the global roaming services like any other users of quad-band phones.
