Newly Married Bride Accused of Shoving Husband Off of Cliff Charged With Murder

The recently married woman from Montana who is accused of pushing her new husband off of a cliff shortly after their wedding was charged with murder on Thursday, according to ABC News.

Jordan Linn Graham, 22, was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder and making a false statement and is scheduled for arraignment Friday at the U.S. District Court in Missoula, Mont., ABC News reports.

Graham had been married to Cody Lee Johnson, 25, for eight days prior to Johnson's death at Glacier National Park. When Johnson disappeared on July 7 Graham told police that he had gone off with some of his friends. Johnson was reported as missing the next day when he did not show up to work, according to the Associated Press.

Two days after speaking with police Graham told a ranger from Glacier National Park that she had found her husband's body near a popular trail.

Authorities say that Graham told them that on July 7 Graham and Johnson had gotten in an argument and decided to walk the trail together. The argument continued while on the trail and Graham said that she had tried to turn and walk away from Johnson but he grabbed her arm, she then pushed him with both hands in the back forcing Johnson to fall from the cliff, according to the Associated Press.

"She could have just walked away, but due to her anger, she pushed Johnson with both hands in the back and as a result, he fell face first off the cliff," an affidavit claims Graham told investigators, according to ABC News.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeremiah Lynch placed Graham under house arrest after prosecutors failed to show that she was a potential flight risk. Prosecutors opposed the release saying that "based upon the risk that she presents to the community, the seriousness of the charged offense, her repeated false statements, and her mental health," ABC News reports.
