Family, friends and fans of late American country singer Mindy McCready flew in to Florida to pay respect at the singer's funeral, Tuesday.
It has been just little over a week that the 37-year old took her life by first shooting her pet dog and then herself at her home.
"Our family is devastated by the loss of our beautiful and talented daughter," McCready's mother, Gayle Inge said in a statement before Tuesday's funeral. "Her life no matter how brief touched many and she will forever be our special angel."
The funeral was held at the Cross Roads Church in Fort Myers. During the funeral McCready's music was played at the Church while a picture of her was put beside her wooden coffin that was draped with white roses. Inge spoke for the first time since her daughter's death saying her daughter was finally at peace after her much publicized struggle with drugs, alcohol and the law.
"Yes, she did battle things in her flesh," said Inge. "But her spirit found healing on the other side."
Inge also revealed that she had spoken to her daughter before her death and said McCready was in one of her "darkest moments" when she took her life. Inge said there was lots of pain and agony in her daughter's voice when she last spoke to her.
Inge also stated that she plans to give both McCready's sons bracelets with angels and hearts to remember their mother.
"This is so their mommy can watch over both of them," she said. "Because they will forever be in her heart."
Other family members remembered McCready fondly calling her a blessing in disguise and an angel. Many of her cousin's said they idolized her.
"Mindy was such a blessing to me," her cousin said. "As a child I idolized her. I thought she was everything."
"She inspired me," her brother Skylar said, "when she told me I was talented."
