News broke earlier today that Jim Carrey's on-again-off-again girlfriend Cathriona White was found dead in her Los Angeles after committing suicide. Carrey has officially spoken out about the truly devastating news with a very emotional statement, offering condolences to her loved ones.

"I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona," Carrey said in his statement, according to People. "She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt."

The 53-year-old actor and the 28-year-old makeup artist had been dating on and off ever since 2012 when they first met. Apparently, they recently broke up on Sept. 24 and White made sure to address this in her suicide note to the actor, TMZ reported.

"It was reported as a possible suicide," a spokesman told People. "There evidently was a note found. There will pills located near her. The final cause of death won't be released until we get full toxicology and tests back."

"The report is not completed," Lt. Fred Corral of the Los Angeles County Cornoer's Office told CNN. "But it is an apparent suicide."
