"Mad Men" fans don't want to say goodbye to the show that some critics have called the best series on television.
And it looks like the producers don't want to, either.
AMC has decided to take "Mad Men"'s final season and split it in two, with seven episodes airing spring 2014, and an additional seven shown the next spring.
President of AMC Charlie Collier announced the news on Tuesday with creator Matthew Weiner. Another AMC favorite, "Breaking Bad" experienced huge success during its final split season, with two more episodes to go before the series ends on Sept. 29.
"This approach has worked well for many programs across multiple networks, and most recently for us with 'Breaking Bad', which attracted nearly double the number of viewers to its second-half premiere than had watched any previous episode," Collier said, according to USA Today. "We are determined to bring 'Mad Men' a similar showcase."
Weiner commented that the schedule will work well with the show's narrative.
"We plan to take advantage of this chance to have a more elaborate story told in two parts, which can resonate a little bit longer in the minds of our audience," Weiner announced.
So now that we know "Mad Men" will take a 45-week-long break, the real questions are: will Megan stay with Don? Will Don reveal more information about his past? Will Sterling Cooper & Partners shut its doors? Who's gonna die next? And will Sally ever get over what she saw?!
