Idris Elba has finally responded to James Bond author Anthony Horowitz's comments that the "Beasts of No Nation" star was "too street" to play James Bond, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Horowitz, who penned the upcoming James Bond novel "Trigger Mortis," recently said in an interview, "For me, Idris Elba, is a bit too rough to play the part. It's not a color issue. I think he is probably a bit too 'street' for Bond. Is it a question of being suave? Yeah," as HNGN previously reported.

Horowitz later apologized for his remarks and Elba himself responded with an Instagram post oft a screenshot of the article with the caption, "Always keep smiling!! It takes no energy and never hurts! Learned that from the Street!! #septemberstillloveyou," on Tuesday.

"If human beings want to know if there's any connectivity between all of us, the one thing I've heard around the world universally is that, 'You'll be great at James Bond!'" Elba said, in an interview discussing his film "Beasts of No Nation," according to Variety"If it should happen, that's proof there's connectivity amongst human beings. If everyone wants something, they can make it happen. That would be true."

Elba added that in spite of all the speculation about him taking over as the next 007, there has not been any communication vis-à-vis him succeeding Daniel Craig as the new James Bond.

"It's all rumor-ville," he said. "I'm not speaking to the James Bond people. They are not speaking to me. So if it was to happen, there you go - the will of the nation."

The next Bond film "Spectre," which will be Craig's fourth film as agent 007, is slated to hit theaters on Nov. 6.
