Shelter life is tough. Dogs are in cramped kennels, cages and runs, often with other dogs. It's cold, loud and scary at best. And if they aren't selected in a short time by an adopter, which the odds are stacked against them with staggering surplus of animals entering the shelters revolving doors daily, then the dogs get a one-way trip to the euthanasia room.

Meet Gregor. That was his life. That was how his sad life was to end up. He was at a high kill animal shelter and suffered a bite wound from another dog's attack in their care. Instead of treating him, the officials placed him on the euthanasia list. So he sat, while the staff member in charge of the killings had an opening to come and get him. Gregor was hurting and had one hour left before the clock ran out.

Lucky for Gregor, in came the folks at Vet Ranch. After an initial meeting with Dr. Matt, the compassionate vet behind the Vet Ranch Rescue, it was determined that the skittish and scared Gregor had already suffered a traumatic life. However, Dr. Matt could see past that in the sad but hopeful yellow lab mixes eyes. He saw a winner and a fighter.

His wounds were fresh and he was covered in fleas, ticks and funk. The battle would be uphill, but Gregor was worth it, he was worth it to Vet Ranch and he was worth it to Dr. Matt.

In just a few short weeks, this now happy and jovial boy was ready for a new life, a real life, with hope and a future, thanks to the rescue efforts and love at Vet Ranch.

While the video here is graphic, you know there is a happy ending, so take the time to see a full circle and what a little compassion and paying it forward can do for one of man's best friends.
