While Tyler Price and his cousin were walking near their home in Flint, Mich., they spotted a sign on the ground, which Tyler lifted it up with his foot to discover a deep drainage pipe where a helpless dog was trapped at the bottom.

"All I could see were his eyes," Tyler told news station WJRT.

The two tried to get the dog out from the seven-feet deep pipe with a pile of debris, but their efforts failed. So, Tyler called his father for help. They called 911 and a local animal rescue to help save the dog.

The pit bull was obviously in an emaciated state due to a lack of food and water. By the time it was pulled to the surface with a rope, they immediately offered him food and water.

Mars, which is the name they gave to the pit bull, was then taken to the vet for a checkup and placed under the care of Terissa Kerr. Despite being severely underweight and being diagnosed of heart worms, the dog is still incredibly loving.

"You can't get near him without getting kissed," Kerr said, according to The Dodo. "He's amazing."

Tyler's father said that his son has been asking him to adopt a rescue.

"He's been on me since Sunday about getting a dog, so we will get one that is rescued," Tyler's father told the news station. "He deserves it."

A fundraiser page was opened for Mars to help cover the cost of his care. When his condition gets better, he will be up for adoption. A Facebook page called Mars-From Hole to Hope has been opened, where updates about the dog are posted.
