Missing since Thursday afternoon, Jerold Joseph Williams was found dead Monday. The 5-year-old boy allegedly wandered off from a campsite to chase grasshoppers about 12 miles south of Jacob Lake in Arizona's Kaibab National Forest, according to the Daily Mail.

No other details were immediately released by the Coconino County Sheriff's Office.

Gerry Blair, spokesman for the sheriff's office, revealed the body would likely be taken to the county medical examiners office in Flagstaff, Ariz., where authorities would check dental records and fingerprints to see if they match with those of Williams, according to the AP.

Several hundred searchers, aided by military helicopters equipped with night vision equipment and ground crews with dogs and ATVs, spent five days looking for the boy in rugged terrain since he went missing, according to ABC's Chicago affiliate ABC 7.

Authorities noted there were no signs of an abduction or foul play, and said Williams' parents were devastated by the disappearance and remained involved throughout the search.
